These bills are the "Stop Online Piracy Act" (SOPA) and "Protect IP Act" (PIPA). There are three problems with these bills that cannot be repaired:
- They cannot stop online piracy, nor protect any IP (Intellectual Property).
- Instead they take away sacred rights like freedom of speech and due process guaranteed in the Constitution.
- They create chilling effects in which many of the technologies we have come to accept (user comments, self-publication, personal pictures and videos and chat, video and audio chat). These bills quite literally break the Internet.
